New Guide Sheet to show kids how to create their own books at home, rainy days will never be boring again.
Well my poem went really well into the bin, I tried but as I realised its a lot harder than making the last words rhyme. FKBK sent it to their poet in residence & she put me to shame with her version which I have now put into the FKBK Workshop handout.
FKBK are on the lookout for teachers, poets, artists etc who would like to go into their local primary schools to offer workshops, worth a look me thinks… After a cup a tea
Yippee For Kids By Kids are here, so enjoy,
Our teacher will help us, each girl & each boy.
Under their watchful eyes, our efforts will grow,
Real poems & stories will soon be on show.
No-one will struggle, each page will be fun,
And very quickly our book will be done.
Maybe we’ll show off our work in our school,
Everyone, seeing, would think it so cool!
Trying to get my head round the FKBK Workshop handout for Poetry Tutors & I blooming ended up having a go at a bit of ‘Acrostic’ poetry myself (sounds like I know what I’m on about…nope I just remember doing them as a kid myself). It’s when the first letter of each line spells a word, anyway it was to get kids thinking what they could write if they used their name, Anyway how hard can it be… well blooming head scratcher hard!
Yes FKBK’s are here & we will all enjoy,
Our teacher, tutor, Every girl & boy.
Under their support we will all make,
Real Poetry Books, wow it’s a piece of cake.
Not one person will not receive a book,
At the end of today, we will all be hooked.
Maybe show our book off in the School Hall,
Even better open our very own book stall.
Ok alright I thought for my first attempt it was adequate, feel free to put me right or write me a better one.
Need to get on with these illustrations but first a cup of tea me thinks
Feeling a little bit Oliver Twist today, just had those good chaps at www.forkidsbykids.co.uk ask for some more illustrations to be handed out to their band of Workshop Tutors, jeez my pencil is that small it looks like its from Ikea (or any other reputable outlet that uses tiny pencils)…oh well back to the drawing board
Finally finished putting the finishing touches to the handout guide, hope they like it
Example of what I’m sent to work from (this is a good one) & the start of illustrations in pencil. I’m slowly getting there but think it’s time for a cup of tea 🙂
